Were God guides He Provides!

That blog title has been something God has proven over and over in my life, and time after time He is faithful. The most resent example has been attending the She Speaks Conference.

I wanted to go, and felt it was where God was leading me. I was going to need a great deal of money to attend. It is all the way in North Carolina, I’m in California, but it is an amazing opportunity that by my doing would not happen. But within just one month, God provided what was needed for the trip, Why? Because it is His plan that I go, for His glory.

It was about ten years ago when He placed a dream in Scott’s heart to open a coffee house. I said, “A Coffee House? That’s a morning gig right?” I’m not really a morning person. You know those places open at ‘O dark 30’. So we had been praying about it and said something to our pastor; asked him to pray for us to see God’s will.

Next thing we know, he is using us as a sermon illustration on a Sunday morning about trusting God to provide as we plan to open a coffee house. (I think he just missed Starbucks, he was from the city). Scott and I looked at each other and said, “I guess we are opening a coffee house.” Son-Rise Espresso was born, or the Idea was, we still needed this thing called money.

Now how do you do that with little or no money? Everyone knows that the “perfect” business plan means you have back up in savings and you live for two years without taking any money from the business to live off of. Oh, what that is the perfect plan, that is not what we had. We had a dream, so off to the bank we go with our dream……..yea, you guessed. no go! For some reason the bankers just didn’t understand, we answered all their questions.

1. What type of business do you need the loan for?  (Okay, I know this one) It’s a Coffee House/Cafe

2. Do you have any money to invest? (Duh, that is why I’m here!) Uh, No!

3. Do you have any experience in running this type of business? (I drank a lot -of coffee- to see how it’s  made)  Uh, No!

Really I don’t know why banks couldn’t understand that God was telling us that we needed to open a coffee house, so they should give us the money and have faith in us!

Well, we know that it was God’s plan, so we did not give up! The minute I quit trying to make things go the way the world says they are suppose to go, God worked it out! Yes, in maybe not the normal way, but things just worked. Yes, over the years there have been times that we have needed help along the way when something breaks down. There have been times that we have been so blessed by those who come though our doors, you just stand in awe of God’s glory. From day one God has provided for us each and every day no matter what the need, sometimes, He even knows we need rest on those slow days.

Son-Rise Espresso is Ten years old! We have had a lot of great people work for us over the years, some of them still do. There have been many changes here and there if you haven’t been in, stop on by and say “Hi”.

Plus you never know what or where God will lead or provide for next.
